Medicare Advantage Plans for Veterans

Comprehensive guidance on Medicare Advantage options tailored to your healthcare needs and budget. Maximize your coverage while working with your VA benefits.

What is Medicare Advantage?

Medicare Advantage (also known as Medicare Part C) is an alternative to Original Medicare. These plans are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare and provide all your Part A and Part B coverage, plus often include additional benefits like prescription drugs, dental, vision, and hearing coverage.

Important: Medicare Advantage plans replace your Original Medicare coverage. You cannot have both a Medicare Advantage plan and a Medigap policy at the same time.

Medicare Advantage and Your VA Benefits

As a veteran, you have unique considerations when it comes to Medicare Advantage. Understanding how these two systems work together can help you maximize your coverage and minimize costs.

Dual Coverage Flexibility

Use VA facilities for VA-covered services and Medicare Advantage for other services. No coordination needed - each system pays for its own services.

Expanded Provider Network

Access to a broader network of healthcare providers beyond VA facilities, giving you more choice in where you receive care.

Cost Management

Medicare Advantage can help reduce out-of-pocket costs for services not covered by VA benefits, potentially saving you money.

Geographic Flexibility

Especially valuable if you live far from VA facilities or travel frequently, ensuring you have coverage wherever you go.
